SISSY SOULPONY is Stacy Konkiel, an activist-/archivist-at-heart who wants to preserve queer and riot grrrl culture for the kids. She may have been too young to experience either movement firsthand, but she nonetheless cut her teeth on the likes of Pansy Division, Sleater-Kinney, and Bratmobile and was deeply influenced by the ideas and aesthetics of both movements as a young teen.
In college, she founded a queer music series which brought national queer (and ally) musicians to her small, conservative university. These acts included V for Vendetta, Hawnay Troof (f/ Baby Donut), Kickball, and Michelle Malone. Minds were blown, friendships were forged, and then she went away to grad school at the best school in the world.
Currently, she lives and works in the Bay Area and splits her free time between SOUL PONIES and co-editing the INTERNATIONAL GIRL GANG UNDERGROUND zine with artist, musician, womonsister: Kate Wadkins.
